While traditional, religious, “old fashioned” weddings will never go out of style, weddings that portray the bride and groom's personal style, tastes, and creativity are becoming quite popular as well. These are often called theme weddings, because they follow a specific motif or idea. These unique wedding themes range from understandable to quite bizarre (depending on your perspective), but the fact of the matter is that theme weddings are popular, accepted, and are very likely to be here to stay.

      When planning a wedding around a specific theme, prices tend to go up because every detail of the wedding has to be specialized around that theme. Like planning a traditional wedding, both bride and groom have to sit down and look at the numbers, seeing what can go and what can stay in terms of keeping their unique wedding theme. The couple will have to decide which areas of the theme are most important to them, either the ceremony, the decorations, the food, the cake, the clothes, the giveaways, the music, and all other wedding details.

      Remember that you don't have to have everything follow your chosen theme in order for your guests to appreciate that you are trying to relay a specific mood or feel. For example, if your decorations and music already portray your theme perfectly, you don't really need to make your food and cake follow the theme, especially if it will cost more. As long as you can get your message across, your theme has done its job.

      Also, don't impose your theme on your guests. For example, you have an Indian themed wedding. You can write down the theme on the wedding invitation so that your guests know that they will be attending a themed wedding, but don't expect all your guests to come in saris and traditional Indian clothes. Neither should you expect everyone to eat Indian food. You will need to give them a continental option on the RSVP card. Though it would probably mean a lot to you if your guests cooperate and go along with your unique wedding theme, don't take it against them if they do not.
