DIY Wedding Favors: Homemade Soap Favors

If there is one great thing about soap favors, it's that they are practical. You can be very sure that your guests will use it and it won't go to waste. Custom made soaps can be a bit pricey and you may not want to give out bars of commercial bath soap. So why not make your own soap? It's an easy DIY wedding favor. There's no need to take an entire soap making course either. Here’s an easy way to make something to give away on your wedding.

What You Need:
White soap or clear soap
Mold
Soap color
Double boiler or bowl for melting

How to Do It:

  1. Take your white soap or clear soar and cut it up into chunks.
  2. Put this in your double boiler and melt. If you don’t have a double boiler, using an oven or the microwave will work just as well.
  3. Add your soap color once your soap has melted, making sure to start with just a bit until you get the color you want.
  4. Pour into molds and set aside to cool.
  5. Remove from molds and pack.

Tips:

  • Add a trinket or two into your soap. Use clear soap and put something in the middle so that it can be seen. Your guests will be able to get the trinket once the soap has run out. This will give them an extra something to look forward to as well as make your soap look nice.
  • Create small pieces of soap in various shapes and then put a few in an organza pouch. You can also try putting your soap in a shallow sheet and press shapes out with a cookie cutter. The excess soap can be melted and molded again.
  • If the soap that you chose has no scent, you can add a few drops of essential oils to add fragrance to it.
