Get Yourself Organized With Wedding Planning Tools

So, you have an idea of what you want for your wedding, you have an idea of what you can afford, and you have an idea of what things cost. It's now time to get yourself organized!

Being organized by using wedding planning tools is the golden key to planning your own wedding. Your being organized can make or break your wedding. Even people who are usually unorganized can pull it together to plan and attend to all the details that go into the production of a wedding. Use what you know about what you want for your wedding and what you can afford to help you get yourself organized.

First, divide the various sections of a wedding into different groups or categories. For example, invitations, guest list, and gift registry usually all go under one category, while music, photographer, and program goes into another. The categories are yours to create or manage in whatever manner you're comfortable with. If you are unsure which items to group together, you can follow the articles on this site to help yourself group the items into categories.

For those unsure of where to begin, follow these tricks or wedding planning tools that wedding coordinators or consultants employ themselves in order to pull off wedding after wedding.

  • Checklists

When you have organized your various wedding details into groups and categories, you will be able to make checklists of what needs to be done under these categories. For example, under the category of invitations, guest list, and gift registry, your checklist can be something like this:

( ) Finalizing Number of Guests
( ) Registering at Store of Choice
      ( ) Designing Wedding Invitations
      ( ) Printing Invitations
      ( ) Printing Registry Cards
( ) Printing Thank You Cards
      ( ) Sending Out Invitations

Many places that print invitations offer promos or packages for printing your thank you cards at the same time, which is why it was included on the list. Other places also feature the printing of “save the date” cards which are sent prior to invitations, just to let people know in advance to “save the date.” These cards are a new thing, and not everyone follows them.

Remember that this is just a sample checklist. Your checklist under this category may need to include other details, such as an “RSVP week”, which is usually the last week people can confirm their attendance. This is discussed in further detail in another article.
