At the end of the evening when the wedding is finished and you've done all the traditional activities, it's time for your guests to go home. As is customary, wedding favours are given out, as a gesture of thanks to your guests for joining you in your celebration. Quite often, wedding favors are small tokens, though some couples (with bigger budgets) choose to give out larger favors. I know of one couple who gave away cake cutters to each of their guests. The names of the bride and groom were engraved on the cutters, as was the wedding date.
Naturally, larger, personalized favours are more expensive. However, you can still get personalized, affordable wedding favours which you can give to each of your guests without having to worry about giving them something cheap looking. Many wedding supply stores (mostly the ones that let you order online) have great personalized affordable wedding favours that look great! Here are just a few of your options:
- Personalized Bookmarks (picture of the couple, names, wedding date, and inspirational message) = $0.29 each.
- Personalized Lip Balm (picture of the couple and wedding date on top) = $0.71 each.
- Big White Tote Bags (embroidered names & date, or inspirational message) = $1.45 each.
- Personalized Tin Mints (picture of the couple and wedding date on top) = $1.95 each
- Personalized Miniature Chocolate (names & date on the packaging) = $29.95 for 100 pieces
As you can probably calculate, even if you have quite a number of guests, these items won't cause too much of a dent in your budget. For example, even if you have 300 guests (which I doubt a budget wedding would have), getting personalized bookmarks done would only cost $87! Plus, the more you order, the cheaper prices get because these items are really supposed to be made in bulk.
There are many other possible affordable wedding favours you can choose from. You can check out the list of wedding supply stores in your directory, and find out what favours they offer and if there are minimum amounts for ordering. Remember, you don't need to give each guest a wedding favour. The truth of the matter is that some of them will not want one, some of them will forget to get one or forget where they put it during the reception.
If you'd really like each of your guests to have one, you can put one wedding favour in front of their place setting on the table at the reception. If you didn't make enough wedding favoirs for all the guests, you can ask someone from your entourage to hand them out at the door as guests start to leave. It's okay to run out of wedding favours, though you probably won't.
