So You're Planning a Theme Wedding… Things to Keep in Mind

Every girl has stopped to think about the day she’s going to get married. Some think about it a couple of times; others think about it their entire life. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve thought about it once, twice or a million times; surely the one thing that you want is for your special day to be perfect. With the number of women trying their hands at planning a wedding, more and more unique ideas have come along.

One of the most popular things that women are now looking into when it comes to wedding plans are theme weddings. Though it sounds like a real challenge to plan something like this, you don’t have to press your panic button just yet.  Planning a theme wedding is something that is both fun and exciting to do. Here are some things that you should keep in mind to make sure that your plans for your theme wedding is perfect.

  1. Before you get starts on anything, you should have a clear idea of what you want. This will make things easier for you as you go along. Go through magazines, visit exhibits and other places where you can get ideas for your own planning.

  2. Keep a journal or wish notebook with you. Have a small (or big) notebook handy wherever you go. When you see something that strikes your fancy, write it down in your notebook. If you have pictures from a magazine, by all means stick it in your notebook. You may even want to have a camera with you so you can take photos.

  3. Share your ideas. Make sure that you let the people you will be working with know what you want. Don’t be too swayed too easily to pick something that they want for you; it is after all YOUR wedding. Make what you want clear and ask for suggestions, if there is something that you don’t like be sure to let them know so adjustments can be made.

  4. Look into details. Very many times it is the small things that really make a difference, especially in theme weddings. Don’t be afraid to come out like a control freak taking every little bit into consideration. The most unique and well planned weddings have every little thing ironed out to perfection.

  5. Know the basics. Even if you are working on a theme wedding, there are some basics that every wedding covers. These things include: getting a marriage license, setting a date, booking a church, planning the reception, giveaways, the gown and a photographer. Don’t forget any of these essential things no matter what type of theme your wedding has.

  6. Get a head start. Theme weddings are usually more detailed and may take longer to plan than usual. Be sure that if you are choosing a theme which may be difficult to put together, you will have enough time to get everything you need. Start planning early; there’s no hurt in having everything organized and set a few months before the big day.

  7. Set your budget. It can be very easy for even a simple or small wedding to shoot out of budget. Maybe those custom giveaways or your location will make everything perfect; but do make sure that it’s something you can afford. Set a budget and make sure that you stick to it to avoid any problems after the wedding.

  8. Stay organized! One of the biggest problems of planning a wedding can come from not being able to keep track of things. Make sure that you keep everything organized by using a checklist, guide or planner. This will help you prevent having anything misplaced or forgotten.

Planning a theme wedding is something that will definitely require a lot of time energy and attention from you. By keeping these few things in mind, you should be able to make planning a wedding much easier for you.
